WorldCon 2024 Schedule

The WorldCon 2024 programme has been finalised and I can share my schedule!

Considering this is the biggest Science Fiction Conference in the world and there are authors participating from EVERYWHERE, it’s truly an honour to be involved.

I’ll be appearing on the following hybrid panels – so you can attend in person or online!

The Allure of Genre: Literary Authors Writing SFF

With Caroline Hardaker, Joanne Harris, Edgard Wentz, Sultana Raza, Yume Kitasei

From Margaret Atwood’s genetic engineering to Colson Whitehead’, zombie apocalypse, literary writers love to play in genre waters. Some of them embrace it and celebrate the genre, others cast aspersions on their fellow writers about AI and spaceships. So what is the attraction of the fantastic to writers of primarily mimetic works? And which ones should genre fans be reading?

On Saturday 10 August 2024, 14.30 GMT+1

Do Philosophers Dream of Electric Sheep?

With Sara L. Uckelman, A. M. Vincent, Caroline Hardaker, David Ellis, Ádám Gerencsér

From Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein to Martha Wells’ Murderbot Diaries, speculative fiction has long been used as a medium to explore philosophical concepts such as free will, the nature of persons and transhumanism. Join this panel as they discuss speculative fiction as a legitimate and versatile avenue for ‘doing’ philosophy.

Monday 12 August 2024, 10.00 GMT+1

In-person and online tickets of all shapes and sizes are available at the Glasgow 2024 website.

See you there!
